Tanya Hayles is an event planner, consultant and founder of Black Moms Connection. As a personal brand, she is a speaker, writer and storyteller with over a decade of extensive event industry experience and over 5 years as a writer in digital media. Tanya decided to combine all those under one umbrella to create Hayles Creative Elements. There are many elements to creativity. Writing, storytelling, and creating are just a few forms of expression that Hayles Creative Elements uses daily.
In 2012, she became a first-time mother and discovered there were a plethora of online resources but none of them provided a safe place for her to turn to for specific questions relating to the black community. Not one to shy away from a challenge, she reached out to her network of 15 black moms to gauge their interest. And, from there Black Moms Connection was born. When her online network grew from 400 to 4,000 moms in two short months, the need was apparent.
Tanya is the recipient of the 2019 BMO (Bank of Montreal) Community & Charitable Giving Award, the 2017 Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch and the 2016 CBC President’s Award. She has also been nominated for the 2019 Mompreneur® Momentum Award, the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Woman of Influence Award and now the 2020 L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth Award which has already donated $10,000 to their nominees and the winner will be awarded another $10,000.
