TORONTO, ON (Nov. 12, 2013)—Pauleanna Reid, motivational speaker and nationally published journalist released a preview of her first adult-ficiton novel called: Everything I Couldn’t Tell My Mother.

The novel is a coming-of-age story for any woman who has ever questioned her sexual maturity and readiness, stayed silent at a time when she should have spoken up or accepted treatment that was less than what she deserved.

“Over the last 3 and a half years, I’ve spent every moment of my free time creating and writing this novel,” says Reid. “This has been a dream of mine since my playground days in elementary school.”

FlowerAaliyah Panarese, the novel’s main character, is the teenage daughter of successful, overprotective parents who want the best for her but rarely consider her hopes and dreams. Under the matriarchal rules of her abusive mother, Aaliyah is expected to, without question, follow in her footsteps and attend law school after she graduates from high school. Frustrated and too cowardly to express her dreams of becoming a writer, she escapes life’s harsh realities by journaling heartfelt letters to her mother inside a diary, hoping that one day they will be the keys to rebuilding trust and strengthening the emotional connection that is lacking between them.

Since the preview, Reid’s blog received over 600 visits and readers are eager to get their hands on the full story. So far, Reid has seen downloads from Colored Girl Confidential founder, LC Johnson, Catriona Smart founder of the Coco & Cowe blog and the publisher and editor-in-chief of Urbanology Magazine, Priya Ramanujam.

Everything I Couldn’t Tell My Mother is set to release in hardcover in March 2014 and will be available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Indigo.
