Dr. Candice Bridge Makes Brit + Co’s List of 2016 Boss Babes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orlando, FL (January 5, 2017)—Coming off the heels of our viral news about Dr. Candice Bridge and her amazing work developing research on evidence for sex crimes, Brit + Co releases their selection of Boss Babe’s in 2016, which places Dr. Bridge in the lineup alongside notable women in entertainment, science, sports, fashion and more.

The list includes pop star Selena Gomez, the most followed person on Instagram, with 106 million followers. Brit + Co shares that back in 2015, Gomez went public about being diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Lupus. Since then she has also been very transparent about dealing with mental health issues and even went to rehab for that reason back in October of 2016.

Issa Rae, creator of the YouTube series Awkward Black Girl and also producer/director of her latest HBO project, Insecure, is also a 2016 Boss Babe. Issa was just nominated for a Golden Globe for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy.”

Dr. Bridge is a Professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and was awarded a $324,000 grant from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to develop new forensic science techniques to aid in sexual assault investigations.

“This grant will enable us to conduct research into a unique new means of identifying perpetrators of sexual assault when traditional DNA evidence doesn’t exist,” says Dr. Bridge. “It’s an important line of research that has become even more important as rapists attempt to elude capture by covering their DNA tracks after an assault” she adds.
